From: KaEnterkin Subject: "Decisions" 1 of 1 Date: Thu, 9 Apr 1998 17:36:07 EDT Disclaimer: The Babylon 5 universe belongs to JMS, TNT, and whoever else may or may not claim it, but certainly not me. This is a short piece that I had to get out of my head, it takes place sometime early in season 5. There are no spoilers, wasn't enough room to put them in. Any comments should be sent to kaenterkin@aol.com. --Katie Decisions ""The corps is mother, the corps is father" "Live for the One, Die for the One". What's the difference? If the choice is between to different factions of fanatics, I'd rather not choose." "But the choice is not between two groups of fanatics, as you say." She said. "With all due respect ambassador, I'm not sure I see a difference."" "And what did you do then?" "I walked out. I know, I know it was rude, she is an ambassador, but I really don't see a difference at all. Besides I'm use to the sleepers." "Use to the sleepers? Do you really expect me to believe that? We've known each other since we were children. You haven't been the same since you started taking the sleepers." "Well, *I* haven't noticed anything, and *I* think that *I* would know if something was wrong with *me*." "That just proved my point. You overreact to everything. Look, Cynthia, how did you feel before you started taking the sleepers?" "Well, I, uh...okay, so maybe I am a bit more irritable now, but that doesn't mean that I want to stop taking the sleepers. You haven't any idea what it's like to have voices inside your head all the time. It's enough to drive a person insane. Why do you think I joined the Psi Corps in the first place. Then once you're there, they never let you out alive unless you take the sleepers or go to jail. I just wanted to make the voices go away. They never go away." "But now you miss them." "A little. How would you feel if you suddenly went deaf, if you'd been able to hear other people all your life, and now everything was silent? So, yes, I do miss the voices. But that doesn't mean I want to..." "That's it isn't it? You're scared that the Psi Corps will find out that you've gone rogue and come after you. You really *do* want to join the rangers but you're afraid." "I didn't say that!" "But that's what you were thinking isn't it? I may not be a teep, but I know how you think. They're a good group of people. Anything run by Ambassador Delenn and President Sheridan can't be all bad." "So now you're trying to get me to become a Ranger." "No, I'm just trying to get you to listen to your heart." "Great now you're even beginning to talk like Ambassador Delenn. I'll think about it." "I'm glad. I'll talk to you later." "Same to you. End transmission." The screen went blank as the transmission ended. "Computer, Record message." "Recording." The computer replied. "En'til'zha, respects. I just spoke with Cynthia Malon and I believe that she will eventually join us. Although she is afraid that the Psi Corps will discover that she has gone rogue, she will make a good Ranger. Computer, end recording and transmit message to Ambassador Delenn on Babylon 5."
