From wc721@freenet.victoria.bc.caThu Jun 1 12:03:03 1995 Date: Thu, 1 Jun 1995 07:11:22 -0700 From: "Jacquelyn J. Smith" To: babylon5-creative@netcom.com Subject: Poem - "Dushanka Maria" Here is a short poem I've been working on. The title is from the episode "Born to the Purple" in which Ivanova's father calls her "Dushanka Maria" or "Little Song". If I've spelt or interpreted it wrong please let me know, I'm trying to locate a Russian/English dictionary later today. Dushanka Maria -------------- by Jacquelyn J. Smith Stealing a reflection from others She views herself. The surface affects Efficient, guarded, honour. Beneath lies a fortess Secured at every gate. Very little gain access, And fewer return. Sometimes she is close... Forgetting the craters dug around her soul, Pebbles start to fill tiny crevices. A narrow path forms; Then she remembers. The rocks are excavated. It is easier this way Colder, cruel, callous. Isolated from her own thoughts She calls out, screams, hides. There is no noise Only emptiness, in the void of space. No one hears her loneliness On the desolate, unfeeling moon Shining in the night. Still, alone, but sought after. Well, there it is. All comments and criticism gratefully accepted.
