SUBMISSION:- I thought that you might like to take a look at the lament that I have written. This is my first attempt at poetry, so I hope that it is ok. It is set between episodes 401 to 402, and charts Delenn's downward emotional spiral from the expedition to Z'ha'dum, to her despair aboard B5, where she seems to query her will to live on. Please let me know what you think. DISCLAIMER:- Babylon 5 and its characters are the intellectual property of J.M. Straczynski, PTEN, Babylonian Productions, and Warner Bros. No copyright infringement is intended. In short, jms once said "Let there be light". Know what I mean? "Farewell" Delenn's emotional decline from hope to despair. By Peter Beton. I will call to you, seek you, I will call to you, wish you back. At Z'ha'dum in a hell uncharted, Fire and darkness erase your track. Will there be a rendezvous? I know not. It is hard to be the one left behind. For it was me that sent you away, The pain of that guilt screams in my mind. I cannot forget yesterday, I cannot forgive my pain of today, Forever it will be yesterday. Yesterday. I will remember, for what it is to be blind. My heart lies bleeding through all of my sorrow, As I watch this candle burn. I will pray for you, for our tomorrow, And hope that someday you will return. This candle by my side beckons your soul, We are soul mates, and will someday reunite. This candle will burn, challenging the shadows, A beacon of light, in the dark depths of the night. This gift you have given us, may last until morning, The minions of the devil, banished by their defeat, their demise. Perhaps then, I will realize that a new day is dawning. We shall all then rejoice, in peace, wipe the tears from our eyes. Perhaps then, I will rest, in release from my mourning. We shall pick up the pieces, continue our lives. I will wait for you then, when others tire of waiting. I will wait for you then, when others give up hope. I will wait for you through all of my grieving. I will wait for you then. I will wait. Tears of hope flow ever eternal, my soul hangs by a thread. For you will return, its all I can believe in, For you will return, defying the dead. I will wait. I only know that I still must fight, Never give up, never retreat. Remember my name, remember my plight. We are sand grains in infinity, Never again will we meet. The Shadows have fallen, their world up in flames, Now they seek refuge, abandon their gains. This monument you gave us, at great personal cost, Will be remembered by billions, Your sacrifice not lost. These words tremble on my lips, These words of remorse I enshrine. All for the love of you, my hope, my life, For the love of my divine. These moments of transition are born of great pain, Of solitude so vast, on my concience will strain. These words then haunt me, I cast them to stone. Upon your epitaph, remember your name. Upon your epitaph, forever alone. Farewell then. Onward you fly, on wings of thunder, Forever your glory will be in my minds eye. My love ever eternal, that was torn asunder, Without you in my life, I will wither and die. Farewell. Farewell then my love, my one and my only, Farewell to the life I have lost. I surrender myself to deaths gentle harmony, To settle in serenity, no matter the cost. I will meet you again at the end of time. I will meet you again at the end of it all. Remember this place, for long ago I told you, It is the place where no shadows fall. Wait for me there, our souls will be together, There will be a rendezvous after all. Two souls will collide and unite in eternal splendour, We will meander as one beyond times ever reaching call. _______________ - -
