She heard whispers, but couldn't make them out. She felt cold metal against her bare feet. She was an adult, she was ten, lost, alone in the night. A figure in white was before her; distant illumination. Susan instinctively ran towrds it, pigtails bouncing behind her, Earthforce insignia sparkling on her jacket. "Susanotchka..." A woman's voice said softly. Susan looked up at the figure. "Mama," she said, her voice breaking. "Susan...." The woman hung in mid-air, suspended from a cross-beam. "Susanotchka....Tell no one." "Mama!" Susan yelled, tears filling her eyes. "Mama!" "Tell no one..." Her mother slowly disappeared, fading from the light. "Mama! No!" Susan screamed. "No!" A hand grabbed her shoulder and turned her roughly. Talia Winters stood there, that smile on her lips, the smile when she left, when the Talia she knew was dead, when Talia was gone forever. "The Corps is Mother. The Corps is Father," she said, her husky voice tinged with scorn. Susan closed her eyes and shook her head. "No, no, no..." she said. "No!" She turned away from Talia. Bester was on her other side. "You cannot deny what you are," he said, his voice nonchalant. "You know you have to join us. Your mother would have wanted it." He grasped her hand. "You're one of us, one of the Corps." "No!" Susan pulled away from Bester and began running. She didn't know where she was going, but she had to get away, far away, away from it all. She saw someone running towards her. When she was about to collide, she froze. It was her. She stared at this other self in shock. She was dressed in black, Psi-Corps badge glinting in the faint light. "You cannot deny who you are...." said her other self. "No!" The black gloved hands reached for her. "No!"
