"Then the Darkness Could" by Meredith D. Holt Summary: Some of John's thoughts after coming back from the future in which Delenn kissed him. Spoiler Warning for War Without End. S P O I L E R W A R N I N G A N D M O R E S P O I L E R NC-17 RATING !!!!! Hello all, All I did was watch WWE and now story ideas are pouring out of my ears! Sheesh! This story is a John and Delenn one, so I'm not sure how good it will be, considering I'm better at writing Marcus and Susan stuff. This is kinda the companion to "To Everything There is a Season", but only kind of. This is probably gonna be another short story deal, I am hopping to get a longer one when Crusade starts, but (a long, drawn out, depressed sigh.) Unfortunately, work will intrude, as the real world always does, to annoy me and take some of my time away from me. Any way, thanks to Adam and Skyler Rose for putting up with me and reading my stories. And a virtual Jonathan Jackson to Skyler, for her idea to make this story better. Also Daniel, he hates Babylon 5 (shocks and gasps from the crowd) but I do love to annoy him with it. Any and all comments, questions and rotten tomatoes to be throw at the afore mentioned offending Daniel, to beckihblumer@fuse.net. And visit my website at http://expage.com/page/meredithb5 On with the story, everyone with in a 35 mile radius knows I talk too much. Love Always, Meredith D. Holt Legal Disclaimer: Everything that isn't nailed down, explosive, defective or on fire in this story (exception; the idea itself) belongs to JMS, all power and glory to him. Oh, and the penny pinchers called WB and PTEN do finance the thing. A begrudging thanks. Personal disclaimer: I am sometimes partially insane, it depends on where the moon is, how ripe the fruit is and whether or not Adam is around (hint; I'm more lucid when he isn't then when he is). Oh, well. W A R N I N G : If you are under 18, or have something against sex, then DON'T READ! Then the Darkness Could by Meredith D. Holt (AKA: Lennier's Lady) beckihblumer@fuse.net He couldn't sleep. He didn't feel like eating. He knew what he wanted to do, he also knew that he couldn't do just that and was ashamed that he was even thinking about it. John Sheridan sat in bed, covers pulled around himself as if to protect himself from the darkness and some ideas he'd rather not explore. And central to those ideas was Delenn. It had been three days (the Minbari magic number strikes again.) since they had gotten back from Babylon 4, and he had gotten back from the future. Thoughts of the future brought on thoughts of HER. He had met Delenn in a cell on Centari Prime, and she had told him that she had accepted this fate and that she wasn't afraid if he was with her. She had also kissed him, told him that she loved him and that they had a son. Quite a load of bricks to drop on a guy and not give him notice. Now, when ever he wasn't thinking about the war, he was thinking about Delenn, how it felt to, hold her, kiss her, and how it might feel to.... he scolded himself. But he couldn't pretend that the temptation to think about it wasn't there. Oh, it was making its presence very well known indeed. It was harder to be around her now, God knows why, simply because he'd had a flash forward to the future in which they were married wasn't any good reason. (Well, not entirely) And everytime he closed his eyes, he saw her beautiful, desperate face as it had been on Centari Prime. Every time he dreamt, he dreamt of her sweet lips. This was driving him crazy. And when you are in love, you always are crazy. Delenn felt confined her quarters, so she dressed and took a walk in the gardens. This calming technique didn't work, surprisingly. It usually worked. Like a beautiful, exotic bird, caged against its will, Delenn wandered the halls. For the first time since her change, she felt completely out of sorts. Remembering the frightening time after the Chrysalis, Delenn's thoughts wandered to John, and his willingness to be kind to her, and his help. His attentions sometimes frightened her, they brought out such odd feelings. Sometimes, like she was flying, and others like there were birds fluttering in her stomach. Delenn stopped in her tracks when she realized she was right in front of John's door. With a hesitant hand, she reached and rang the chime, she knew it was late, but she needed to see him. With surprising speed, he answered the door. He didn't look like he'd been sleeping. "Delenn?" he asked, and blushed in the odd human fashion. "Please, come in." "I am sorry if I woke you John, but I, I , don't know." she said. She stumbled on her emotions, once more cursing her human tongue. Her eyes welled up with tears of frustration. "Delenn, please don't cry." John said as he took her into his arms. His warm, firm chest felt good as Delenn leaned on it. She sighed softly as he wound strong arms around her, holding her in an iron embrace. Hesitantly, Delenn raised face to look at him, her eyes still brimmed with tears. Of their own accord, John's lips descended on Delenn's in a demanding and passionate kiss. Delenn threw herself into it, it felt so nice...... John meanwhile, caught up with what his lips were so busy doing, and tried to pull away, until he realized Delenn was kissing him back, her lips like soft petals. A moan escaped her lips as he caressed her body through the fabric of her gown, and he slipped his tongue past her barriers, plundering the warmth of her and inviting her to do the same. They stood there for a long while, making love with lips and tongues, until they finally came up for air. "John.." she spoke softly as she gently touched his cheek. Just like she had in the flash forward. "You are the other part of my soul, I see that now. I want you to...make..love to me, I believe the term is?" she seemed hesitant as to his reaction, but she needn't be, for his response was only to cease her lips in a bruising kiss, and he begun fumbling with the clasp on her robe. Her hands came to work the fastener on his pants with surprising grace. Then they stood before each other, bathed in the dim light of his quarters, their bodies bare before one another. "I love you Delenn." John told her softly , as he buried his face in her long, soft hair, "I don't know how it happened, only that it did." He picked her up in his arms, cradling her like a secret treasure against himself, and then laid her reverently on the bed, eager to worship her body with his own. They made love through the night, with passion and intensity. Their love light their souls, capturing them more completely then the darkness could. Tomorrow would bring the evils of the world, but the night joined lover to beloved to one, changing them into one. Falling colors? FLYING colors.
